Le bac

2017

Chalabre Arts Festival, France 2018

The images are created from natural and man-made objects found walking on the track heading east from the town Chalabre through the forest called le bac. The objects, whether a log, or leaf are fastened onto large pieces of paper with metal wires, brackets and screws. Sometimes the objects are cut or broken. The wires, brackets and objects become a complex stencil for spray paint sprayed onto the paper. The resulting images give a sense of something having existed that has become at one with the forest, but at the same time the spray paint, steel brackets and wire and screw holes in the paper tell us of experiences at odds with the beauty of le bac.
